Ineffective Response — Video Vignette Script

A DAD IS CLEANING THE GARAGE BUT IS NOT IMMEDIATELY VISIBLE AS HIS DAUGHTER RIDES UP ON HER BIKE (COMING FROM SCHOOL OR FROM A FRIEND'S HOUSE). SHE NOISILY LEANS HER BIKE AGAINST THE WALL AND LOOKS GLUM.

DAD:

Hey, how's it going?

BRITTANY (SAD):

Fine...

DAD:

Doesn't sound fine. What's the matter, now-why the long face?

BRITTANY:

Nothing, I'm just... bummed. I found out that a bunch of my friends are going to this party Saturday night and... and I wasn't even invited.

DAD:

That's it?! That's what you're so upset about? You don't have to be invited to everything. Get over it! Use the time for something productive-like catching up on your homework or starting that history paper... or clean out the garage. There are more important things in life than parties!

BRITTANY (NOW SAD AND FRUSTRATED/ANGRY):

I knew you wouldn't understand!!

SHE TURNS AND STORMS OUT.
